These individuals notice that, at times, they are moody and/or energy level is very low, and at other times, and very high.During their “low” phases, these individuals often feel a lack of energy, a need to stay in bed or get extra sleep, and little or no motivation to do things they need to do.They often put on weight during these periods. Some individuals, during these high periods, may feel irritable, “on edge,” or aggressive. Some individuals, during the high periods, take on too many activities at once.
During the high periods, some individuals may spend money in ways that cause them trouble. They may be more talkative, outgoing or sexual during these periods. Sometimes, their behavior during the high periods seems strange or annoying to others. In the past year or so I have been seeing a school provided counselor, more regularly during the spring semester last year, and these days just when I feel like I need it.
She has given me some tools to help me deal with my stress and anxiety on my own, which is why I haven't been seeing her as regularly anymore.I like how the beginning of the test says, use this to see if you need further professional help, or to track your moods. And simple awareness (a la mindfulness) of what you're feeling is, I think, a step forward in itself.tess, I think the point of this test is to help people get a handle on their own state of mind and see if it seems advisable to take the next step. It's not like the instructions read, 'If you score X or higher, get yourself on antidepressants post haste.' My results came with text saying that I appear to have some symptoms associated with depressive disorders and that I might benefit from seeing a professional to get a real diagnosis. Which sounds perfectly reasonable to me.Resident Expert Posts: 3039 Joined: 04 Jan 2008 Blog. My results came with text saying that I appear to have some symptoms associated with depressive disorders and that I might benefit from seeing a professional to get a real diagnosis. Which sounds perfectly reasonable to me.Sorry, when I goggled this test it come with a promise of a promise to diagnose bipolarHowever, I still insist that the test will not make a distinction between clinical depression and the 21 century common definition of a depression. Feeling down. Lincoln,I was reading through the comments regarding this matter and your response of the highest score being in the 85th percentile but upon farther research determining that the correct highest percentile would more likely be in the range of 90.
I also gathered that you had said that you took the test answering the questions with what you thought would be 'the most depressing' of answers. You cannot accurately answer those questions thinking in the same mindset of the persons taking the test with a different mindset, maybe one of an actual person suffering from depression.
